Fisher-Price has been making toys for children since 1931 when three New York entrepreneurs teamed up to create 16 wooden toys for the International Toy Fair that was held in New York City in 1931. The founders Herman Fisher, Irving Price and Helen Schelle pooled together their business acumen, creativity and resources to lay the foundation of a toy making company that has been flourishing for the past 80 years. The founders' criterion for toy making was that "Fisher-Price toys should have intrinsic play value, ingenuity, strong construction, good value and action."
Fisher-Price originally produced toys to fascinate and stimulate a child's imagination. They were designed basically for the infants, toddlers and preschoolers but now have expanded their products to electronic toys, baby products, learning sets and play zones. Fisher-Price toys are loved and used by children all over the world. However, in September 2010, more than 10 million of Fisher-Price products were recalled for health and choking hazards.
